#2: Scientific work in the tropical forest

🌿 Scientific Exploration in the Heart of Kirindy National Park: A Working Day in Madagascar! 🌳

I'm in the heart of Kirindy National Park, ready to start a day of scientific work in Madagascar.

🌄 The day begins with an exploration of the forest:

The day begins with an early morning exploration of the forest. Amid the lush canopy, I soak up Madagascar's natural beauty, ready to discover the hidden secrets of this unique ecosystem.

🌳 The Baobabs: Emblems of Madagascar:

The baobabs are at the centre of our discussions, representing emblematic elements of Madagascar. With a total of nine species, seven of which are endemic to the island, these majestic trees are symbols of Madagascar's biodiversity. Their ability to store large quantities of water in their massive trunks means they are adapted to extreme environments, making them sacred elements in many local cultures.

🔍 Scientific Methodology and Field Research:

We then look at the fundamental aspects of scientific methodology and field research. From the importance of curiosity to the formulation of hypotheses and the collection of data, each stage is crucial to our understanding of Madagascar's biodiversity.

🚁 UAV Mapping and Field Research:

The day's work will involve drone mapping of the study area, to pinpoint the exact location of the trees, particularly the baobabs.

🌿 Fieldwork intensity:

The fieldwork is intense and demanding, with obstacles such as dense vegetation and encounters with wildlife. Despite these challenges, our passion for science and our determination to discover new knowledge guide us every step of the way.
