Join us on exciting expeditions in search of one of the most fascinating marine predators - the moray eel. These nocturnal hunters skillfully hide in the rocks during the day, offering a thrilling quest into the depths of the ocean.
🔭 First expedition:
Our first expedition took us to the Angra do Heroísmo Archaeological Park in Terceira. Despite our best efforts, the moray eel remained elusive, but we discovered other fascinating marine inhabitants that caught our attention.
🌊 Second expedition:
For our second expedition, we went to the Arches of Serretinha, a rocky area ideal for searching for moray eels. On our second dive, we finally managed to spot a moray eel and film it.
🐟 Discovering moray eels:
Although they look like snakes, moray eels are actually fish and lead a nocturnal lifestyle. They feed on prawns, crabs, squid and other fish, and have a double jaw to swallow their prey.
