#4: Life in the deep



🌊 Exploring marine biodiversity 🎥


The aim of this episode is to quickly highlight the extraordinary biodiversity that resides beneath the surface of the seas in the Azores.


📍 Dive Location: East coast near Porto Judeu :

This immersive dive takes place on the east coast of Terceira, near Porto Judeu. The entry and exit points are technical due to the strong currents, adding an extra challenge to this underwater adventure.


🌊 Dive Depth and Spring Conditions:

Despite the onset of spring, the dive reaches a depth of around 19 metres and lasts 45 minutes. The waters, although cool, reveal the dynamic life that persists even at this time of year.


🐚 Encounters with Marine Life :

During the dive, fascinating encounters with various invertebrates, including spirographs and fireworms. The highlight of the exploration is the discovery of a magnificent red lobster, standing majestically at the entrance to its cave. Encounters with aquatic vertebrates are also on offer, with colourful species and an endemic moray eel, as well as shoals of salemas feeding among the boulders.
